Hayley works as the Logistics Coordinator for NECHAMA, and is based out of our Minneapolis office, close to her hometown Saint Paul, MN. She came to NECHAMA after serving with AmeriCorps NCCC on a disaster specialty team. Hayley and her team responded to Hurricane Harvey in Aransas Pass, TX, Hurricane Irma in Jacksonville, FL and worked with communities in Humacao, Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Once she traveled back home, she wanted to continue her pledge to service, she spent her summer as an AmeriCorps Construction Volunteer Facilitator with Twin Cities Habitat For Humanity. Hayley is currently on response to Hurricane Florence with the rest of the Operations team in the South Carolina.
“I find purpose in in a quote my grandmother would tell me as a child, ‘Everyone you meet is fighting a difficult battle, so be kind to others.’ Something I believe many people can relate to. Kindness is a powerful tool. I get to practice being kind while witnessing kindness in others everyday at my job. I think working in this field allows me to connect with others in meaningful ways. It also fulfills my desire to lending a hand.
When I’m not working, I’m probably finding time to rewatch the best movie ever made… JURASSIC PARK! You will most likely find me napping on a beach or hiking with my dog Juno back home in Minnesota. I’m so excited to be part of the NECHAMA community!”
