Like you, every time I look outside I am reminded of what has been a brutal (and still ongoing) winter here in Minnesota. The snowpack was already at historic highs before that weekend’s snowfall, and with rain, the chances of severe flooding are high.
As I write this, we are beginning to draw down operations in South Carolina – putting them on hold – to move staff and resources into place to respond here in MN and neighboring states. We know the critical role NECHAMA plays in immediate response work here and the importance of our ability to deploy quickly.
But we can’t engage in Tikkun Olam in Minnesota, and our neighbor states, without our most important resource – our volunteers. In the coming weeks, we expect that our services will be needed, and we will depend on you to once again to answer the call to service to our neighbors.

I hope this is all unneeded, that the flood threat dissipates. But history has shown us that conditions can change quickly, so now is the time to organize and prepare.
