On August 10th, Iowa experienced excessive damage after a derecho had a prolonged stay in the areas around Cedar Rapids causing substantial damage from heavy rain and level 2 hurricane-force winds. Last week, two of our solar packs accompanied #FootprintProject and their solar equipment to provide electrical access to the hardest-hit areas with sustained power outages.
On Monday, August 17, NECHAMA departed from Minnesota to Cedar Rapids, IA with our partners at #IOCC, to assess the need and determine where we can assist. This is what we refer to as a low-attention disaster, a situation that generates less media coverage despite the severe impact of the disaster and typically occurs in less populated areas of the country.
Please donate today to provide hope and comfort to the residents affected by last week’s severe storm, and in anticipation of the storms to come.
