Hurricane Francine made landfall on Wednesday evening, September 11 in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana (about 50 miles southwest of New Orleans) as a category 2 hurricane, with powerful winds at 100 mph. Thankfully, it quickly slowed to category 1 hurricane, with winds at 85 mph. The need for an immediate response is still critical, as the storm is expecting to bring life-threatening conditions across Louisiana and Mississippi.
NECHAMA has a long history of disaster relief in Louisiana, and once again, we’re preparing to act. Over the next few days, I’ll be on the ground conducting assessments to ensure we can provide aid where it’s needed most.
