2024 was a highly impactful year for NECHAMA. We started 2024 by emerging from a long-term project responding to Hurricane Ida in Louisiana and recommitting to our organization’s main priorities:

  • Humanizing Jews and Judaism in communities shattered by disaster.
  • Building the identity and engagement of our volunteers, particularly Jewish volunteers.
  • Providing comfort (the translation of “nechama” from Hebrew) and healing for individuals and communities impacted by natural disasters.

In 2024, we deployed to four states bringing comfort to those severely impacted by natural disasters. So far, as part of our ongoing hurricane relief deployment in Western North Carolina, we have already engaged 500 volunteers who have provided 6,500 hours of service. We also expanded our team and launched projects aimed at Combating Antisemitism and promoting Jewish Education and Engagement

I am so proud of what NECHAMA has accomplished, and we couldn’t have done it without you—our supporters, volunteers, and everyone who shares NECHAMA’s mission.

Thank you again for your steadfast support of NECHAMA. I am looking forward to another successful year!
