NECHAMA – Jewish Response to Disaster is a proud recipient of a 2024 Lowe’s Reconstruction Grant for the Hurricanes Helene and Milton Recovery Cycle. We are deeply appreciative of the generosity of the Lowes Foundation and National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) for making this award. The grant of $10,000 in Lowes gift cards and $1,400 to cover administrative expenses will be used to cover a portion of NECHAMA’s Hurricane Helene deployment to Buncombe and Henderson Counties.

This grant is a powerful investment in our ability to help families recover after Hurricane Helene,” said Stephan Kline, CEO of NECHAMA. “We’re incredibly grateful to the Lowe’s Foundation and NVOAD for their support. This will allow us to provide essential services and support to communities in Buncombe and Henderson Counties.”

NECHAMA arrived on location on October 6, 2024 and intends to remain through June 30, 2025 as we continue to engage in debris and brush removal, muck and gutting, and mold mitigation before we turn to home rebuilds in the wake of the storm.
