Yesterday, Hurricane Beryl struck Grenada, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines in the Southern Caribbean, causing numerous deaths and widespread destruction. While it is not expected to significantly impact the U.S., Jamaica, Cuba, and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula remain at great risk. Beryl is notable for being the first storm to reach Category 5 intensity in July, with winds reaching 160 mph. Forecasts continue to indicate an extremely active hurricane season.
