Early this morning, Hurricane Dorian was upgraded to a catastrophic Category 5 storm. Our thoughts are with those in the Bahamas who will feel the full force of this storm over the next few hours.

There is still uncertainty regarding Dorian’s path as it closes in on the Southeastern United States – with the potential for landfall from Florida to the Carolinas. Regardless of where the storm makes landfall, areas along the coast and even those inland, face the risk of devastating wind, flooding rain, and storm surge as this slow-moving storm makes it way north along the coast.

On Monday, NECHAMA staff will begin moving into Atlanta, GA to stage ahead of the storm’s arrival and prepare our response. Once it is safe to do so, we will open up our Response Program to volunteers.

In the meantime, you can support our efforts with a donation today to bring hope and comfort to affected communities.

If you are in the path of Dorian, we urge you to take all precautions and prepare your home and family for its arrival.
