Hurricane Helene made landfall late last night on the Big Bend of Florida as a devastating Category 4 storm, with 140+ mph winds, storm surges as high as 20 feet, and massive flooding. It is now categorized as a tropical storm and is traveling through Georgia with dangerous rain and high winds. As of this morning, Helene has claimed the lives of 5 people and has left 4 million people without power across the Southeast United States. Hurricane Helene is the 8th named storm of an increasingly volatile hurricane season, with Hurricane Francine hitting nearby communities in Florida just a few weeks ago.

NECHAMA is working around the clock to assess the situation and prepare our response. We are committed to providing critical relief, but we can’t do it alone. Our volunteers and supporters have been the backbone of our past efforts, and your involvement is crucial once again.

Here’s how you can make a difference:

Donate – Your financial support is vital. Donate here to help us respond quickly and effectively. Every dollar allows us to provide essential aid where it’s needed most.

Rooted in the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam—repairing the world through action—NECHAMA relies on the generosity and dedication of people like you. Together, we can bring comfort and hope to those facing the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Our thoughts are with everyone in the storm’s path, and we are committed to being there for them in this critical time.
