At the current moment, we have paused our response in Detroit, Michigan to evaluate the longevity of the program. We are hopeful that we will be able to return in the near future. We have appreciated the ongoing partnership with National VOAD members and our state and local partners in Michigan.

Our response began on July 12, 2021. 21 volunteers from Michigan and around the country joined AmeriCorps Team Maple 1 and a NECHAMA staff member on the ground. They shared time with the families impacted by the flooding, going through personal items and removing damaged walls and flooring. The group logged a total of 1,449.25 hours of service helping families recover from the impact of the flood. After a total of 69 homes had a damage assessment completed, 48 homes required our muck and gut services. There are still many more families waiting for support. We hope to return soon to continue the work we have begun!
