The community of Ocracoke Island graciously welcomed our Dorian Assessment Team and our partners at IOCC. As we wrap up our Assessment period in response to Hurricane Dorian, we’ve determined not to open a Response program at this time. We are happy to see the sustained outpouring of support from neighboring communities as well as from other disaster relief organizations. The island is bustling with volunteers and neighbors moving quickly through the gutting and tree work, in fact many families are already in the process of repairing their homes.
We will continue to stay in touch with our local and national partners to determine if there are any outstanding needs NECHAMA can fill further down their road to recovery.
