Today, NECHAMA joined the Henderson County Social Justice Network in co-hosting a Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) commemoration. We were deeply moved by Dr. Donald Sloan’s sharing of his father Curtis Sloan’s (né Kurt Salomon) story, a Holocaust survivor who escaped Germany as a teenager and built a legacy of resilience. We were also honored to share video remarks from NC Governor Josh Stein, alongside prayers and reflections from faith and community leaders across Western North Carolina. We will have the full recording soon, but we invite you to watch Governor Stein’s remarks at the link below!
